BYD has officially announced that its Ocean Network flagship SUV, the Seal 08, will make its world premiere at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in April. Drawing reference from the BYD Tang, the new model is expected to be equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, with its pure-electric range potentially exceeding 1000km.

In terms of exterior design, the Seal 08 will continue to adopt the Ocean Aesthetics front fascia. It is anticipated to feature the signature headlight design characteristic of Ocean Network models, with a LiDAR unit mounted on the roof.

The vehicle boasts a substantial overall body. Reports indicate its length exceeds 5 meters, with a wheelbase over 3 meters. It features hidden door handles and is expected to be a three-row SUV. Spy photos of test vehicles reveal fuel/charging ports on both the left and right sides, suggesting the availability of a DM-i plug-in hybrid variant.

Regarding powertrain, the new model is expected to offer both plug-in hybrid and pure-electric versions. The pure-electric variant will utilize the second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, targeting a maximum pure-electric range beyond 1000km. Charging claims include reaching a sufficient charge in 5 minutes and a full charge in 9 minutes, with an additional 3 minutes required in cold weather. The all-wheel-drive version's maximum power may exceed 480kW, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time under 5 seconds.

Furthermore, dynamic effects observed on the wheels suggest the vehicle will feature rear-wheel steering, aiding maneuverability for its large size. The new model is also expected to be equipped with the same DiSus-A (云辇-A) intelligent body control system as the Tang, featuring a dual-chamber air suspension and road preview capability.
