Leapmotor A05 High-Power Variant Appears in Chinese Regulatory Filing

A higher-power version of the Leapmotor A05 has been spotted in a filing with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The A05 had previously been listed with a lower-power variant. This new version continues to use a single electric motor but with increased output. The vehicle is positioned as a compact SUV.

In terms of exterior design, the Leapmotor A05 adopts the design language of the A-series models. It features projector headlights, a lower grille for cooling, and air curtains on both sides. The vehicle's front end can still be optionally equipped with a LiDAR sensor to provide advanced driver-assistance systems.

Regarding dimensions, the new vehicle measures 4200mm in length, 1800mm in width, and 1560mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2605mm. It features a five-seat layout. The rear retains the smiling-face style taillights and includes a large tailgate for easy loading.

For powertrain, the Leapmotor A05 is equipped with a motor produced by Huzhou Lingsheng Power Technology Co., Ltd., with a maximum power of 90 kW. The previously listed entry-level model had a maximum power of 70 kW. Both versions have a top speed of 160 km/h. The vehicle continues to use a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offered with two supplier options: Hubei EVE Energy Co., Ltd. or Lingxiao Energy Technology (Wuyi) Co., Ltd.
