Used Cars from China: Real Price Examples and a Practical Buying Budget

November 4, 2026

Shopping for used cars from China becomes easier when you separate the advertised vehicle price from the total cost of getting a suitable car into your country. A low headline price is useful only when you know the model, mileage, condition and delivery scope behind it.

This guide compares four actual SellGoodCar listings checked on 4 November 2026. They illustrate different purchasing budgets. They are not China's average used-car prices, an exhaustive market survey or a promise that the vehicles will remain available.

What different vehicle budgets can buy

Advertised vehicle priceActual stock exampleListed mileageWhat to investigate
US$7,802.272020 Changan CS75 Plus 1.5T Deluxe69,000 kmDecember 2019 first registration, service history and future preparation needs
US$11,189.012022 Changan CS75 Plus 2.0T Deluxe30,000 kmExact equipment, maintenance evidence and destination eligibility
US$18,845.982021 Li Auto ONE six-seat version110,000 kmBattery and range-extender evidence, service access and connected functions
US$27,828.192023 Li Auto L7 Air44,500 kmVIN-specific specification, diagnostics if required and overseas usability

All four examples publish an original-metal-panel/factory-paint note. That observation does not make the cars equivalent in mechanical condition. In particular, the 110,000 km Li Auto ONE should not be compared with the L7 using price and body condition alone.

Keep a purchase budget and a destination budget

Start with a maximum total budget in your own currency, then work backwards. Record the vehicle price in USD, exchange-rate basis, agreed China-side transport and services, international freight, insurance, destination charges and local registration costs. Include any preparation work you identify for the selected car.

SellGoodCar's published Trading Terms use EXW vehicle sales. An advertised car price should therefore not be read as a delivered, customs-cleared or registered price. Obtain an itemized quote and avoid adding a cost again if it is already included in another line.

Have a destination broker check the exact documents and applicable costs. A car's advertised model year may differ from its manufacturing or first-registration date. The CS75 Plus example above is advertised as a 2020 model with December 2019 first registration; that distinction can matter when a destination evaluates vehicle age.

Ask for evidence that answers your own buying question

If your question is whether a used car has visible body repairs, read its published inspection report and recent photographs. If your question is battery health, gearbox operation or underbody condition, an original-paint note does not answer it.

The platform's standard inspection is a limited visual check of stated major-accident, fire and water-damage items. It is not a comprehensive mechanical inspection or a warranty. Ask whether separate diagnostics or specialist checks can be arranged, what they cost, and what evidence you will receive.

For connected cars, request a demonstration of the interface language and functions you expect to use in your destination. Confirm access to maintenance and replacement parts for the exact version. Do not assume local official-dealer support or a manufacturer's warranty solely because the brand sells vehicles in your country.

Compare new stock when the prices are close

The right comparison is not always used versus used. On the same check date, a 2025 CS75 Plus 1.5T listing showing 0 km asked US$13,300. That gives buyers around this budget another concrete option to investigate.

It does not make every used example poor value: equipment, condition, documents and availability differ. It does mean that a recent used car should be compared with available new stock at the same destination and delivery scope before a deposit is paid.

Personal purchase and dealer purchase need different shortlists

A personal buyer can rank exact cars by budget, intended use, equipment and the checks needed before ordering. A dealer should add preparation cost, supply consistency and destination customer demand. A list of ten low-priced cars is not automatically a viable resale plan.

For either buyer, keep the listing link or stock reference attached to every quotation. Prices and reports must refer to the same car. If a car becomes unavailable, request a fresh report and quote for the replacement rather than carrying over assumptions from the first listing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a used car from China for under US$10,000?

The checked stock included the 2020 CS75 Plus at US$7,802.27. That is its advertised vehicle price, not its final imported cost. Check current inventory and the particular car's documents and report.

Are lower-mileage cars always better value?

No. Compare condition, history, exact equipment and the total import budget together. Mileage is one input, not a substitute for evidence.

How does ordering work?

The published How to Order process covers selection, a non-refundable US$500 deposit, reinspection, your decision about proceeding with the balance, export and destination collection. Read the terms before payment and ask for clarification on any part of the quote you do not understand.
